Picked up this book off my shelf again this morning - it's a great read by Mason Currey, on how artists create. Short paragraphs on specific writers, composers, painters, choreographers, playwrights, poets, philosophers, sculptors, filmmakers, and scientists, on their daily routines that supported their work.
I love it for the non-judgemental way it looks at how they live their lives... And it's got me thinking of my own methods of getting to work. Right off the bat I see a bit of a problem, as the artists I've read about thus far have rituals that seem to be cemented in. I don't have that. My schedule is chaotic and seems to differ daily - particularly during the school year when I'm teaching a couple of days a week. So now I'm thinking, how can I simplify? I'll get back to you, because at the moment I have no idea.
